When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I'll dry them all
I'm on your side
Oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part
Oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

Day 19
03:29
|
|||
Nineteenth day since you died
Sons both spoke, husband cried,
Daughter sang and held them tight;
You won the fight, we held each other tight
The day you died, that day you died
Your oldest left in the morning light
But you waited 'til his lullaby
To say goodbye, to fly, to fly
For three days prior at your bedside,
Letting go of your sweet smile -
Several moments, eyes so wide,
Exchanging glances: is this her time?
I feel better when I write -
Poet's daughters, our birthright.
And when it all tumbles out like stars at night
We reunite, we reunite

Mother, Daughter
04:40
|
|||
Never had a sister, always felt I missed her
My cousin filled the hole, played the role a few summers.
My father and my brother had a whole life other
Before I came along, a surprise late one year
This is how she became my first friend
I knew we'd have it 'til the end, the very end
Mother, daughter
Trying on her perfume, high heels in the bedroom
She let me play, but never gave too much weight to those things
Always spoke so tender, the great silent defender,
Every troubled thought she would listen with such ease
This is how she became my good friend
I knew we'd have it 'til the end, the very end
Mother, daughter
How many things did she keep from me?
How many times she would not let me see?
Don't think I saw her cry 'til age 13
Sweet mystery to me
I called her every evening, our stories interweaving -
Turns out all that I had to do was just ask
The cancer made her weaker, but even more a seeker -
her body couldn't keep her;
She let me mother her for the time that we had
This is how she became my best friend
I know we'll have it 'til the end, the very end
Mother, daughter
Mother, daughter

Last Forever
05:57
|
|||
My hope, let go
Your death, last breath
Goodbye - black night
On bent knee, we did see that
Our time it won't last forever
Enough, too much stuff
Grey skies, fire in our eyes
Rushing, our king
Never good weather
Our time it won't last forever
You dream in poetry
Full days, giving away
Loving everything
Loving every little thing
Our time it won't last forever

That Kind of Love
05:54
|
|||
Where is your silence, with you like a shadow?
Your presence was felt without any a word
Where is your spirit that flew out the window
The morning you died to the sound of the birds
Now the wind is all I can hear
But I want to believe you are near
'Cause that kind of love, that kind of love,
That kind of love doesn't just go away
Where is your counsel when I'm feeling so broken,
Your kind loving voice, saying I'm not alone?
Where is your laughter, the song in the rafters
Of this gorgeous old house that you made feel like home?
Now the wind is all I can hear
But I want to believe you are near
'Cause that kind of love, that kind of love,
That kind of love doesn't just go away
If it didn't go away, then where did it go?
'Cause it's not here in the same way, I know
Where is your body that held me, that birthed me?
For such a small frame, you betrayed the grandest of hugs
Where is your cold hand that I held for twelve hours
And your final smile that filled me up with love?
Now the wind is all I can feel
But it reminds me of what's truly real
'Cause that kind of love, that kind of love,
That kind of love doesn't just go away

Well May The World Go
02:27
|
|||
Well may the world go, the world go, the world go
Well may the world go, when I'm far away
Well me the skiers turn, the swimmers churn, the lovers burn
Peace may the generals learn when I'm far away
Well may the world go, the world go, the world go
Well may the world go, when I'm far away
Sweet may the fiddle sound, the banjo play the old hoe down
Dancers swing 'round and 'round, when I'm far away
Well may the world go, the world go, the world go
Well may the world go, when I'm far away
Fresh may the breezes flow, clear may the streams flow,
Blue above, green below, when I'm far away
Well may the world go, the world go, the world go
Well may the world go, when I'm far away

Love Will Never Die
05:06
|
|||
Don't wanna say goodbye
But endings are part of life
Just take sweet, precious time
To do it right
Love will never die
I loved you all my years
You left us in the hallway in tears
It made apparent all my fears
Now one thing's clear, one thing's clear
Love will never die
Love will never die
Love will never die
Love will never die
Love will never die
Love will never die

All Hallows Blessing
05:51
|
|||
Who live
in the spaces between
our breathing
in the corners
of our seeing
in the hollows
of our bones
in the chambers
of our heart:
nowhere can they
be touched
yet still
how they move us,
how they move
in us,
[Who live
in the future of unknowns
in the hallways
of our homes
who speak
the thoughts inside our heads
in the evenings
in our beds
who sing
the songs that we know best-
consolations
that help us rest
nowhere can they
be touched
yet still
how they move us,
how they move
in us],
made from the
tissue of memory
like the veil
between the worlds
that stirs at
the merest breath
this night
and then is
at rest.
